Dr. McKenna is a graduate of Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland, OH. He completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology with the U.S. Air Force at Wright Patterson Air Force Base and Wright State University in Dayton, OH. He received his fellowship training in Maternal-Fetal Medicine at The Ohio State University in Columbus, OH.
While on active duty in the U.S. Air Force he was on the faculty at Wright State University for six years attaining the rank of Associate Professor. He also worked part-time with Perinatal Partners while in the Air Force. Upon completing his Air Force duty, he was on faculty with the Mountain Area Health Education Center in Asheville, North Carolina for one year before returning to Dayton to join Perinatal Partners.
Areas of special interest include the diagnosis and management of preterm labor, preeclampsia, obstetrical and gynecological sonography, prenatal diagnosis, clinical obstetrics and resident education. In 2010 Dr. McKenna began the new Advanced Fetal Therapy program at Miami Valley Hospital (MVH). He is excited to be able to offer advanced in-utero fetal procedures for our regions patients.
Dr. McKenna is currently on faculty at Wright State University and serves as Medical Director of The Perinatal Intensive Care Unit at MVH. He also serves as the chair of various OB committees dedicated to improving pre-term deliveries and obstetrical safety.
Dr. McKenna and his wife have three children and reside in Beavercreek, OH. Interests include wind surfing, cycling, running, the Boston Red Sox and OSU football.
